For students, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) mean more rigorous and consistent classroom lessons and, as a result, a greater chance of success in college and beyond. However, for teachers, the CCSS implementation process has the potential to bring its fair share of confusion, especially if these instructors do not fully understand the new Standards.
Fortunately, professional development opportunities for educators living in states that have adopted the CCSS continue to crop up as implementation deadlines draw nearer. For instance, from July 16-17, the School Improvement Network will host a summit at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center in Utah.
CCSS implementation is just one of the topics that will be covered at the School Improvement Innovation Summit (SIIS). Those who number among the hundreds of education leaders who are set to attend this event will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to make improvements in the classrooms they teach in every day.
"The quality of leaders in education right now is phenomenal – better than it’s ever been, in my opinion," said Chet Linton, president of the School Improvement Network. "At this year’s SIIS, we have the privilege to hear from many of them."
