Illinois students excel on the Stanford Achievement Test

At East Lake Academy in Illinois, students and faculty adhere to four pillars: academic excellence, character development, faith formation and apostolic action, according to TribLocal. By focusing on these four areas, the Academy has had a chance to grow in recent years, but it is far from done.

As interest in the Academy expands, so too do East Lake’s academic facilities. The news source reported that a building adjacent to the school’s current home is undergoing renovations so it can house 10 additional classrooms. Much of the money used for the expansion comes from the families of past and current Academy students.

The generosity of these families may have something to do with the quality education East Lake is known to offer. Academy students consistently score in the top 10 percent of the country on the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT-10). In fact, the most recent scores to come out of East Lake are the institution’s best yet. Overall, students earned a 94 percent in math and a 93 percent in reading.

According to Pearson Education’s website, teachers can use SAT-10 results to get a sense of what their students know and are capable of doing. Multiple choice questions cover several academic topics, including reading, spelling, math, science and social science.
