CCSS leads to reorganization of school’s administration

While it was always a given that the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) would transform education in schools across the country, one New York institution will undergo a reorganization of its administrative staff because of the CCSS, the Bennington Banner reported.

Both the implementation of the Common Core and teacher evaluations have created a need for reorganization at Hoosick Falls Central School. However, this is far from a change that School officials took lightly.

"We really thought about how we were structured, and felt the need to reposition our administrators," Kenneth Facin, the School’s superintendent, told the news source.

Hoosick Falls’ new structure will last through June 30, 2013 and see some members of the current administration receive new job titles. For instance, Patrick Dailey will go from being elementary principal to the director of K-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment.

Overall, the changes will show the School how the structure can help teachers adapt to the new CCSS-aligned curriculum. According to the Common Core’s website, the new Standards reflect college and work expectations and will provide teachers and parents with an understanding of what students are expected to learn.
